Community Calendar, June 12-18

- Berea Parks and Recreation will host a free sunscreen painting and water gun event on Thursday, June 12 from 10 a.m.-Noon. Water guns are provided but you can bring one of your own if you prefer.
- Berea Parks and Recreation will be holding Fire Truck Friday on June 13 from 1-3 p.m.
- The Madison County Health Department will be checking child car seats to make sure they are installed safely and correctly on Friday, June 13 from 1-3 p.m. at the Richmond location.
- On Saturday, June 14, the Red Oaks Art Club will be having a meeting. All ages and skill levels are welcome, art materials are provided, and the class is free. Bring snacks, water, and a blanket. To register for the event see: https://omella.com/6iju9
- A free Appalachian community meal will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, hosted by the Berea Farmers Market. There will be live Appalachian music at 10 a.m. and you are invited to bring your instruments or sing along to join in the fun.
- There will be a night hike at the pinnacles organized by Berea College Forestry Outreach Center on Saturday, June 14 at 8:45 p.m. It will be a slow-pace, 1-mile loop with minimal elevation change. Participants are urged to bring a flashlight and meet at the FOC building.
- The second annual Berea Juneteenth Celebration will take place on Sunday, June 15 at the Chestnut Street Pavillion starting at 4 p.m.
- Take your kids on a bug safari organized by the Berea College Forestry Outreach Center on Sunday, June 15 at 2 p.m. Meet at the FOC building. It will be a slow-paced walk to find as many insects as possible.
- Take a free swim at Paradise Cove on Sunday, June 15 from 4-6 p.m. Capacity limits still apply.
- On Friday, June 13 from 7-10 p.m. attend a free concert by the Kentucky Bourbon Trailers at Chenault Vineyards near the Welcome Center and Kirksville Saloon.
- There will be a free beach volleyball pickup game at the EKU beach volleyball facility on Monday, June 16 from 7-8 p.m.
- Join Richmond Parks and Recreation on June 17 for Tasty Tuesdays, a free live music and food truck event, at Irvine-McDowell Park in Richmond from 5 - 8 p.m. Music will begin at 6 p.m.
- Park & Play, a recreation program for kids hosted by Richmond Parks and Recreation, will take place on June 18 from 1 - 3 p.m. at Robinson Terrace. Spray & Play, where firefighters spray kids with water hoses, will take place on the same date and location from 2 - 3 p.m. Kona Ice will give out free shaved ice to the kids.
