Mitchell Patrick Sanders, 61, known as “Mitch” and “Hoss”, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at his home.
He was born in Madison County on May 20, 1964, and was a lifelong Madison County resident. After high school, Mitch would attend trade school and would be a long-time employee of Kroger’s. Later in life, he, along with his cousin Rick, became co-owners of the Chuck Wagon food truck, which was popular around many community events. He was currently employed with Pizza Solutions in Nicholasville. In his free time, Mitch enjoyed fishing & hunting, but his favorite pastime was spending time with all of his grandchildren, who lovingly called him Grandpa.
Survivors include: his daughter, Megan Sanders Gross (Damien); his grandchildren, Chandler Ace Jett, Noah David Jett, Allison “Allie-Cat” Gross & DJ “Doodles” Gross; his cousins who were almost like siblings, Carol Sanders Haupt, Pam Kimball, Rick Johnson, Bobby Sanders, Chris Sanders, Joe Johnson, Tammy Johnson, Gary Johnson, Billy Sanders, Judy Gale Gibson, Patsy McBride, Vonda Turpin, Kenny Sanders and Anita Smith; three aunts Joy Sanders Johnson, Etta Carr Brown, and Mary Helen McBride; special friends, Garl “Junk” Lovins, Amy Aldridge, Charlie Jones, Norman Haupt, Cody Lovins, Larry West, Tim Kirby, Ronnie Roberts & Tommy Bowen; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernetta June Sanders; his father, Tom McBride; cousins, David Mason Sanders, Gary Lee Sanders, Jerry Lee Johnson, and Ronnie Dean Johnson.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Sis. Charlotte Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Bobby Sanders, Rick Johnson, Joe Johnson, Damien Gross, Garl “Junk” Lovins, and Ronnie Roberts.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Chandler Ace Jett, Noah David Jett, Charlie Jones & Norman Haupt.
