James Edward Isaacs

November 19, 2023

James Edward Isaacs, age 82, departed this world for his heavenly home November 16, 2023, after a sudden and very brief illness. He was born August 17, 1941, the oldest of seven sons born to Willard and Anna Isaacs. This made him the first of ninety-nine grandchildren of Godfrey and Bessie Isaacs, a fact upon which he prided himself. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, his oldest son Brian, and an infant son.

Always known as a hard worker, James spent his adult life as a dedicated employee at both Dayton Walther and Hyster Yale Group, finally retiring from the latter at the age of 75. His coworkers frequently remarked that he could outwork most men half his age.

James will be remembered by his family as a stalwart oak, strong, reserved, and dependable. He best showed his affection by being ready to help those he loved when he felt they were in need.

He is survived by his wife Louise Gillie Isaacs with whom he celebrated sixty-three fruitful years of marriage on October 22nd of this year. Together they had seven children: Brian (Teresa) Isaacs (Berea KY), Sheryl (Keith) Glenn (Richmond, IN), Jimmy (Kim) Isaacs (Preston, MD), infant David Isaacs, Billy Isaacs (Franklin, OH), Jennifer (Jason) Coyle (Berea, KY) and Flora (John) Shepherd (Richmond, IN). They also had 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren to whom James proudly passed the strong Isaacs genes.

Additionally, James is fondly remembered by his special cousin, Russell Isaacs and wife Verla with whom he not only shared a bloodline but also a lifelong friendship.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 20, 2023 at 11 am at Lakes Funeral Home with Pastor John Shepherd and Pastor Charlie Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Adam Isaacs, Travis Isaacs, Caleb Isaacs, Jacob Coyle, Jordan Coyle and Clay Shepherd and honorary pallbearer Russell Isaacs. Visitation will be Sunday November 19, 2023 from 5-8 pm at Lakes Funeral Home. Online condolences at www.lakesfuneralhome.com
