Betty Banner Carpenter Lakes

Betty Banner Carpenter Lakes, 81, wife of 20 years to Doug Lakes, passed away Friday August 2, 2024, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. She was born March 15, 1943, in Madison County, to the late Newt and Flossie Bishop Carpenter. Betty enjoyed spending time with family, going to yard sales, playing bingo, flowers, and collecting glass chickens. She loved to cook, made the best peanut butter fudge, attending Gospel Singings, and singing for the lord. Betty was of the Holiness faith.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Nancy Jane Winkler, Vickie Barnes, three brothers, Bennett Carpenter, Giles Carpenter, Clayton Carpenter, and one sister Sheila Masters.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, George Winkler and his wife Janie of Berea, Thomas Winkler and his wife Louise of Mount Vernon, one brother Glyndon Carpenter and his wife Betty Jo of Berea, two sisters, Ethel Pigg of Paint Lick, Faye Perkins of Richmond, eight grandchildren, Derek Winkler and his wife Brooke, Dustin Winkler and his wife Kelsey, Courtney Winkler, J.T. Winkler and his wife Ashley, Shane Winkler and his wife Amber, Elijah Winkler, Tasha Roe and her husband Wayne, Sabrina Hutchinson and her husband Patrick. Nineteen great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be 11:00AM Thursday August 8, 2024, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be George Winkler, Thomas Winkler, Derek Winkler, Dustin Winkler, J.T. Winkler, Elijah Winkler, Shane Winkler, and Caden Winkler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Barnes, and Walter Bowling.
