Evelyn Lake Adams, 91, of Berea, Kentucky, passed away peacefully, entering into her heavenly home, and now rejoicing with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 27, 2026. She was born on December 31, 1934, in Berea, Kentucky, daughter of the late Robert & Annie Rowlette Lake. Evelyn was a faithful member of the Berea Church of God for over sixty years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. To her children, Evelyn was a source of strength during difficult times and a voice of encouragement when it was needed most. She enjoyed children and spent 30 plus years in self-employed childcare, caring for over 80 children during those years, known to all as “Mamaw.” Evelyn loved and cherished time with family, her early morning coffee, spending time in prayer, reading, mother/daughter shopping sprees, feeding birds, squirrels, turkeys, and deer while sitting on her patio, and finding joy in the many simple moments that made life meaningful.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Adams; seven siblings which included two infants (names unknown), Robert Lake, Jr., Jack Lake, Mary Reed, Beulah Martin, and Mildred Morris. Survivors to cherish her memory include her children, Danny (Opal) Adams, Dale Adams, David Adams, and Robin Adams; grandchildren Leah Moore (Bob) and Lindsay Blair (Stephen); great grandchildren Samuel Graff, Abigail Blair, Luke Blair, Owen Blair, and Sarah Blair; one sister, Shelby Croucher; many nieces and nephews; her special friend, Sherman Sparks; many close friends; and the many wonderful staff, and caregivers at the Terrace. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love, laughter, and memories she leaves behind will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be Monday, November 2, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Stephen Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens in Richmond. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Berea Church of God.
