Walter J. Harris

Walter J. Harris, 65, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, after a life marked by joy, dedication to his family, and a passion for the simple pleasures that make life so rich.

Born in Hazard, on Feb. 11, 1960, to Millard and Helen Yeary Harris. Though preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Don, Millard Jr., Johnny, and Sammie Harris, the memory of their collective laughter and shared adventures remained a source of comfort and joy to him.

Walter's life was a testament to love and commitment, as evidenced by his enduring marriage to his beloved wife, Bonnie. Together, they welcomed their son, Paul Steven Harris, who, along with his fiancée Adriana, brought immense happiness to Walter's life. The bonds of family extended to his great-nephew, Justice Hockensmith, two nieces, Carrie and John Hockensmith, and Amy Harris, all of whom he cherished deeply.

Professionally, Walter's inherent charisma and honesty led him to a successful career in car sales, finance, and insurance.

Walter was a man who found great solace and enjoyment in the outdoors. He used to love to hunt and enjoyed a round of golf, pursuits that allowed him to appreciate the beauty of nature and the challenge of skillful sportsmanship. As a voracious reader, he loved a good book. In later years, as his eyesight began to wane, he turned to music and film with the same enthusiasm that he had for written tales, discovering a new avenue through which to savor the wonders of human creativity.

Walter J. Harris will be deeply missed, but the glow of his life will forever illuminate the paths of those who had the privilege to know him.
