Judith Anne Spires

Judith Anne Spires, age 72, Widow of Roger Spires, passed away Thursday, April 24, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Berea on June 18th, 1952, to Lorene Slone Hurley and the late John Edward Miller; her dad, Raymond Hurley, also preceded her in death. Judy was a loving mother and nana. She enjoyed shopping, crossword puzzles, and soap operas. Judy’s love for her family was immense, and she helped to care for her mom until her health prevented it. She loved going to church and was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Other than John and Raymond, Judy was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Miller, and his wife, JoAnn.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Natasha (Andrew Massa) Spires of Lexington, two brothers, Rick (Betty) Miller of Berea, Randy (Lisa) Miller of Richmond, and one sister, Sharon (Dana) Anglin of Berea. Three grandchildren, Coty (Jessica Coyle) Brock, Hailie (Logan Stamper) Brock, and Jaxon Spires, four great grandchildren, Landon Stamper, Kinsey Stamper, Rylee Anne Stamper, and Natalie Allen. Special sister-in-law, Mary Lee (Johnny) Todd. Judy’s family would like to thank Josie for her wonderful care in the past months.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 27th, from 5-8 p.m. at Davis & Powell Funeral Home, Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 28th, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the service also at the church. Rev. Joey Kays will officiate. Burial will follow in the Chasteen Cemetery in Rockcastle County. The pallbearers will be Coty Brock, Logan Stamper, Bobby Anglin, Andrew Massa, Kevin Miller, and Ryan Miller.
