Hospice honors volunteers
May 08, 2025
Hospice Care Plus hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Tuesday, April 22, at Chenault Vineyards, celebrating the commitment and compassion of the volunteers who serve patients and families across Estill, Jackson, Lee, Madison, Owsley, and Rockcastle counties.
The gathering emphasized the vital role each volunteer plays in the mission of hospice care and was filled with gratitude, fellowship, and heartfelt recognition as the organization honored all its volunteers and spotlighted four individuals reaching major service milestones:
-
Ann Miller – 10 Years of service
-
Linda Hall – 10 Years of service
-
Karen Linville – 10 Years of service
-
Deb Condrey – 5 Years of service (Not pictured)
“These individuals represent the heart of our mission,” said Mariah Smith, Volunteer Coordinator at Hospice Care Plus. “Like pieces of a puzzle, each volunteer brings something unique and essential. Together, they create the full picture of compassion and care that defines our work.”
The celebration featured a catered dinner, complimentary cookies by Golden Whisk cookies, appreciation gifts for each volunteer, and messages of appreciation shared by several staff members. Held amid the scenic beauty of Chenault Vineyards, the dinner was a moving reminder of the power of community and the deep impact volunteers have on the lives of patients and families.
Hospice Care Plus continues to welcome new volunteers for a variety of roles. "Our volunteers can assist in several areas, including patient companionship, administrative support, and special event support. We work with their schedule and help them find just the right fit" said Smith. They will host a volunteer training on Saturday May 17, from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Madison County Public Library and anyone over 14 can train to become a hospice volunteer.
