Minor dies following drowning incident at Paradise Cove

A 7-year-old boy died following a drowning incident at Paradise Cove on Monday in Richmond.

The minor was found unresponsive at the pool and transferred to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased by the Madison County Coroner’s office.

“The City of Richmond is deeply saddened to learn that the child involved in today’s incident at Paradise Cove has tragically passed away at the hospital,” the City of Richmond said in a press release. "... Our thoughts and prayers are with the child's family during this incredibly difficult time.”

The City of Richmond Police Department is “actively collaborating with the pool management company to gather all relevant information and conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.  

The pool will remain closed until further notice while the investigation continues.
