Donald Lee Donavan loved traveling, especially his trips to Ireland, Scotland, the United States, and Canada. He was an Army Veteran, serving with the Army Corps of Engineers. In retirement, he worked at Lowes in Home & Garden and Ace Hardware. Donald was a former Elder, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher at Northern Heights Church; a former Board Member with Sayre Christian Village both in Lexington, and was a member of First Christian Church in Berea.
In addition to his parents, He is preceded in death by his wife Judy Bogie Donovan, siblings, Kenneth Donovan, Christine Ware, and Marie Thomas.
Donald is survived by his children, Stephen Lee Donovan and his wife Pamela of Lexington, Rick Witt and his wife Tammy of Richmond, Kim Isaacs and her husband Boyd of McKee, Ron Francis and his wife Sharon of Richmond, sister, Laurie Donovan of Taylorsville, grandchildren, Lydia Alexander and her husband Vinson, Charlene Przybs and her husband Robert, Amber Witt (Joshua), Seth Witt and his wife Nebraska, Hannah Witt, great grandchildren, Crystal Jackson, Destiny Isaacs, Kelsey Isaacs, James Alexander, Jason Alexander, Vivian Witt, Charleigh Witt, Boston Witt, London Witt, Knox Witt.
Funeral services were March 18, at the First Christian Church in Berea, with Rev. Mark Caldwell-Reiss officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery with full military rites. Pallbearers will be Steve Rice, Gary Rice, Noah Garland, Carl McCray, Jason Alexander, Billy Bogie, and Kevin Rule.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Care Plus and First Christian Church.
