Eugenia “Annie” Huguely, 56, of Madison County, passed away peacefully on Nov. 18, surrounded by loved ones. Born and raised in central Kentucky to Carl and Eva Cates, Annie carried from an early age a generous heart, deep compassion for others, and an unwavering devotion to God. She had a gift for recognizing those in need and offering comfort through patience, understanding, and genuine care.
Annie dedicated her life to serving others as a nurse. She worked in pediatrics, hospice, school nursing, and emergency and trauma care. Whether tending to children, supporting families in crisis, or providing end-of-life comfort, Annie served with dignity, love, and purpose. Her patients and colleagues will remember her as a source of peace, strength, and compassion during life’s most difficult moments.
Her faith shaped every part of her life. Annie believed in God’s transformative love and shared that love through prayer, encouragement, and acts of kindness. She found joy in listening to others, celebrating their victories, and lifting their spirits when needed. Annie lived with conviction and courage, unafraid to make bold choices in service of her beliefs and her family. Her life became a foundation of hope for generations to come.
Annie is survived by her son, Mark Huguely; daughter-in-law, Merrilyn Huguely; grandson, Nico Huguely; mother, Eva Cates; sister, Connie Cates Jackson; brother-in-law, Travis Jackson; and nephews, Nathan and Noah Jackson. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Cates.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at Full Gospel Outreach, 120 Liberty Ave, Berea. All are invited to attend.
Annie’s legacy of compassion, faith, and love will continue to inspire those who knew her and remember her generous spirit.
